The City of Dickinson is excited to announce that $20,000 has been awarded to 5 community service organizations through the Red, White & Bayou Crawfish & Texas Music Festival grant program. Lewis Social Service Center, Dickinson Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, Friends of the Dickinson Public Library, and Dickinson Historical Society.
"We are thrilled to be able to provide these grants to organizations that do extremely valuable work for the Dickinson community," said Julie Robinson, City Administrator. "We hope to continue to grow this event so we can have an even greater impact on the community and help even more organizations make Dickinson a great place to live and work."
Recipients of the Red, White and Bayou grants are selected through a competitive application process that asks each group to describe the goals of their proposed projects and programs and how that project or program will positively impact the Dickinson community and its citizens. RANDY ROGERS BAND TO HEADLINE FIFTH ANNUAL
RED, WHITE & BAYOU CRAWFISH AND TEXAS MUSIC FESTIVAL
The City of Dickinson is excited to announce that the Randy Rogers Band will headline its Fifth Annual Red, White & Bayou Crawfish and Texas Music Festival scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 11:00 am until 11:00 pm at the intersection of FM 517 and Highway 3 in Dickinson.
“We are thrilled to bring the Randy Rogers Band to Dickinson this year,” said Julie Robinson, City Administrator. “The Festival is dedicated to highlighting artists that represent the best that Texas music has to offer, and Randy Rogers Band has always been at the top of our wish list. We are already counting down the days until they take the stage!”
The Randy Rogers Band recorded its debut album, 2000’s “Live at Cheatham Street Warehouse,” at a music hall of the same name in San Marcos, Texas. In 2002, the Band was signed to the independent Downtime record label, on which they released the album “Like It Used to Be.” Two years later, the album “Rollercoaster” was released, producing two minor entries on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in early 2005. Several of the songs on “Rollercoaster” were co-written by Radney Foster, who also co-produced the album. Rogers also co-wrote “Somebody Take Me Home,” a song recorded by Kenny Chesney, on his 2005 album, “The Road and the Radio.”
“Just a Matter of Time,” the Band's first major-label album, was released on Mercury Nashville Records in 2006. The Band also released a self-titled album in September 2008, also on Mercury Nashville Records, featuring the single “In My Arms Instead.” The Band's album, “Burning the Day,” was released in August 2010 on MCA Nashville. The album's first single was “Too Late for Goodbye.” It debuted at #55 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and after four weeks on the chart, peaked at #47, becoming their highest charting single since 2006 when “Kiss Me in the Dark” peaked at #45.
In addition to the hugely popular Randy Rogers Band, festival-goers will be able to enjoy four additional Texas bands taking the stage throughout the day that will include the dynamic sounds of Zydeco. A full line up of Festival entertainment will be available on www.redwhiteandbayou.com in the coming weeks. The Festival will also feature some of the Dickinson area’s finest vendors offering product sales, and some of the best crawfish on the Gulf Coast will be available for purchase.
Tickets to the event are only $5.00 until May 17th at 7:00 pm and are currently available for purchase online at www.redwhiteandbayou.com, or you can purchase tickets on the day of the Festival at the gate. Beginning at 7:00 pm on May 17th, tickets will be $10.00. No outside food and beverage will be allowed. The Festival gates will be open from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.
